Demand For Candidates With Social Media Skills Growing

According to Wanted Analytics:  “Social media, as a skill set, has reached new levels.  Over the past year, the hiring demand for various social media skills has almost doubled, with more than 11,000 new job ads posted online during August. These skills were demanded in all functions – from Programming and Graphics Design to Marketing and Public Relations, and even HR. With demand for social media experience steadily growing – now up 94% from August 2010 – it may indicate that social media as a business tool is not a fad. As more and more businesses recognize that these web applications will be a key strategy for engaging with customers, hiring demand should continue to grow. The majority of these job ads were placed by corporate recruiters (85%), with staffing firms accounting for about 15% of job ads.”
