Healthcare hiring demand continues to grow. According to WANTED Analytics hiring demand data, in October 2014, there were 6% more online job ads for healthcare practitioners than there were during this time last year. October marked a new high in demand, with about 542,000 job ads for healthcare workers. In the most recent Bureau of Labor Statistics Employment Situation Summary, 25,000 jobs were added in healthcare last month. Over the past year, healthcare added an average of 21,000 jobs to the economy each month. Healthcare practitioner talent was most sought after by hospitals and offices of physicians.

Below are the most commonly advertised healthcare practitioner jobs. Registered Nurse continued to be the most in-demand occupation. Licensed Practical and Vocational Nurse, Occupational Therapist, and Physical Therapist were also among the commonly required healthcare jobs. Of these jobs, Occupational Therapist is likely to be the hardest-to-recruit, scoring a 79 on our Hiring Scale. Our Hiring Scale ranks recruiting difficulty on a scale of 1 to 99, with 99 meaning hardest-to-fill. There is also a low number of candidates per unique job ad for Occupational Therapists throughout the US, 7 candidates per ad. This indicates that Recruiters are facing a lot of pressure to fill these openings. Recruiters are also likely to see longer than average posting periods for Occupational Therapist positions.
